Summary

In Takeda for PC, players are able to experience the real-time strategy game in its purest form. Gone are the days of lengthy FMV cut-scenes and graphics-focused gameplay. This is true hardcore strategy, and we can’t stress that enough.

In the Sengoku period, the country of Japan has been divided as territorial leaders feud, costing the lives of millions. You are one of these leaders and your task is the same as the enemy’s: to conquer and expand. But all in a good cause, of course. Unity is the key, and your ultimate goal within Takeda.

The gameplay and route of progression the player can take is completely free-roaming. Battles are not forced upon the player, but chosen by the player in the order they wish. After battles, players can continue fighting or rest, to regain the party’s health and stamina. The choice is yours.

When in the battlefield, players will assume control of a huge army of as many as 100 soldiers, each with certain specialities and squad leaders. Soldiers can be selected singularly or in groups, RTS-style, and can be ordered to maintain position, attack or retreat. Players are advised that although the first few battles in the game are simple, later conflicts become increasingly complex and require great planning and quick thinking. Thankfully an intuitive control system has been implemented to help players gain easy control. Just a few clicks of the mouse button and you’re away.

As mentioned before, this is a true hardcore gaming experience, but well worth playing to any fans of this densely populated genre.
