Summary

Smuggler’s Run was one of the more controversial games to be released for the PlayStation 2. It dealt with the transportation of illegal goods to variety of different locations. Questionable content aside, Smuggler’s Run provided solid mission-based gameplay and open-ended levels. The sequel offers across-the-board improvements as well as a great new story. Smuggler’s Run 2 will see you smuggling weapons deep into the heart of Russia. Naturally, the government isn’t going to take too kindly to you supplying the Liberation Factor, so stay two steps ahead of them.

Your vehicle of choice is an all-terrain buggy that has been tuned to give it extra speed, ideal for on and off road driving. New for the sequel are quad-bikes and tank-line military vehicles. Having firepower on board is necessary on some occasions, as sometimes you need to infiltrate heavily armed territory. Damage is now a part of Smuggler’s Run 2. You can lose parts of your buggy if you collide with obstacles.

There are over 30 life-threatening missions set over two massive environments, Russia and Afghanistan. The size of these environments has to be experienced. Anywhere you can see, you can drive to, that is if you can stay alive in these hostile territories. Because of the sheer size of the levels, you can approach the missions in a variety of different ways depending on your playing style. Another new feature is night-time missions that make covert operations twice as difficult.

All loot, parts, and contraband must be handled with care. If you are carrying a heavy load, the speed of your buggy will be compromised. Cargo can be easily damaged, so take care when carrying an important load, or you could lose everything. Cargo can also be labelled as biohazard material, and we recommend you drop this off before the timer runs out. It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Other new features include enhanced computer artificial intelligence, graphics, and weather.
