Summary

The technological power of the GameBoy Advance allows for a new genre of game to become portable. Back Track is the first erm, first-person shooter available on a Nintendo handheld.

Domingoaniax, an alien leader with armies of mutants and robots, have taken control of the Build Secret Base on Dark Side of Moon (BSBODSOM). The inhabitations of the base have been assimilated into Domingoanaiax’s armies and an attack on Earth is imminent.

In Back Track you become Jim Track, Earth’s last hope. You must travel to the BSBBODSOM to eliminate the alien threat and rescue any survivors. The twelve levels will be full of hideous creatrues, assimilated humans, and deadly traps. Save as many innocent people as you can before activating the base’s self-destruct. Just make sure you get out of there in time.

The game engine is capable of handling the pseudo-3D perspective that Back Track uses. The frame rate is quite smooth, especially considering the hardware that it is running on. The audio is equally impressive: Back Track uses a lot of digitised speech and sound effects.

Back Track offers a challenging single-player game, but the four-player link-up mode is the mode to play, provided you have the additional consoles and friends of course.
