Summary

The story line of The Mummy Returns for the game follows the plot of its theatrical counterpart. The Mummy Returns is set in 1933, nearly a decade after the events of the first film. Rick O'Connell is now married to Evelyn, and the couple have settled in London, where they are raising their eight-year-old son Alex. When a chain of events finds the corpse of Imhotep resurrected in the British Museum, the mummy walks the earth once more, determined to fulfill his quest for immortality. But another force has also been set loose in the world, one born of the darkest rituals of ancient Egyptian mysticism, and even more powerful than Imhotep. When these two forces clash, the fate of the world will hang in the balance, sending the O’Connells on a desperate race to save the world from unspeakable evil, and rescue their son before it is too late.

One of the most compelling aspects of the game is players have the choice of either playing as the hero or the villain. Once players choose their path, they take control of either Rick O’Connell or Imhotep. When a player picks Rick’s path, his goal is to rescue Alex, resuscitate Evy, defeat The Scorpion King and eventually save the world. His enemies include Imhotep, his living and undead allies, pygmy mummies and The Scorpion King.

If the player picks Imhotep’s path, his goal is to use Imhotep’s magic and all the means available to raise up The Scorpion King, so he can take his army and rule the world. Imhotep’s enemies are Rick, Ardeth Bey and his Medjai, pygmy mummies and The Scorpion King. To fight his enemies Imhotep employs magic spells and hand-held weapons.
