Midas Interactive is well known for its mainstream PC budget releases. The company is continuing to live up to its reputation and has now release Puzzle Station. Yes, this is another falling-block puzzle game, but with some interesting twists in gameplay.
A game of PuzzleStation takes place in a rectangular playing area similar to that seen in Columns and Tetris. As always, blocks will fall from the top of screen, but here you will have to race against time in a mission to burst as many blocks as possible. Placing the pieces you have been given in strategic places can burst blocks. Linking four blocks of the same colour will result in success, reducing your required burst count and giving you more space to work with. But be careful, once you start to get into trouble, the difficulty of the game snowballs quickly. If you burst the required number of blocks before the time runs out, youve successfully completed the level. Naturally, progression comes with a greater challenge. The number of burst blocks required increases and the time limit decreases, forcing the player to work quicker and harder.
To add a little variety to such a simple game, PuzzleStation takes place over 10 worlds, each with five stages. There are a number of backgrounds and themes, making it easier to differentiate one world from another.
As it stands, PuzzleStation is purely a puzzle game. But its an extremely challenging one that can never be played the same way.
