Summary

Talonsoft’s famous real-time strategy game Divided Ground has been granted a new chapter, based around the conflicts of previous Middle East wars. Life is looking bleak on the Eastern front, and you have been called in to settle the goings on within the holy grounds.

Most historic real-time strategy games have been based on a single war, but Divided Ground expands on the time frame of the past to reveal several different wars that span a specific period of time, namely 1948-1973. The game will see you fighting famous wars such as the Independence War, the War of the Waters and the Six Day War.

Once the battle has started, things become a little more complex. Just a couple of your tasks will be to conduct missions and launch air assaults, ultimately leading to the destruction of the opposition. But the playing area is vast, and requires a strong sense of orientation. If you begin to lose your troops, recovering the situation becomes increasingly hard as the opposition makes its stand. In your favour, you will have the ability to control P51D Mustangs, MiG 17’s and even an F-4E Phantom II. Wow! Battles will take place not only in the Middle Eastern countries of Israel and Jordan, but some North African countries too.

As far as historic RTS games are concerned, Divided Ground really excels. It’s highly comprehensive, and the addition of a multi-player option means you could be playing this game forever – literally.
