Summary

The WWF phenomenon reached a mainstream audience in the UK in the early nineties, and its popularity has continued to grow at an astonishing rate. There have been many video game incarnations of the grapple-tastic free-for-all. THQ are in the ring with their premier Game Boy Advance wrestling title, WWF: Road to Wrestlemania.

Players are able to participate as any of 24 world-famous, spandex-clad wrestling stars, including the legendary Undertaker and The Rock. All wrestlers have a multitude of moves and throws, helping to make Road to Wrestlemania an intense but balanced playing experience.

There are six game modes available for your wrestling pleasure that include Single, Tag, Cage, Triple Threat and Submission. Each mode of play offers something that the others lack and helps to give a lot of variety to the game. To make things a little more realistic, the characters’ postures alter throughout the bouts as they weaken.

If all of the above isn’t enough to satisfy your craving, you can literally beat the opposition with a number of what can only be described as brutal weapons. The use of these weapons is necessary if you are to take home all six belts, especially the WWF Heavyweight Championship.

It may not be Smackdown: Just Bring It for PlayStation 2, but Road to Wrestlemania certainly packs a punch.
