Summary

Capcom’s popular little blue mascot, Mega Man, stars in Xtreme for the Game Boy Color. If you’re a fan of old-school 2D platformers, you can’t get much better than the Mega Man series. Xtreme offers a brand new storyline and two new characters.

Xtreme throws you into a virtual world of chaos. The main computer that controls the world has just been hacked. The Hunter Base Mother Computer is responsible for maintaining all critical functions on the surface. Data has been corrupted and destroyed, and it is up to you to bring order out of chaos and save the world. Mega Man soon learns that a boy named Techno is responsible for the mayhem. It is imperative that you find this boy, as he may hold important information.

The way that you complete this title is left open-ended, as there are several levels to choose from. All must be finished, but each route will empower you with different abilities. Mega Man can learn skills from defeating bosses and finding items in hard-to-reach locations. New weapons, armour and climbing skills are just some of the possibilities. Mega Man Xtreme has good playability and longevity, two important qualities to look for in a platformer.
