Summary

Flight simulators, typically developed for PC, are usually strictly based upon flight. But there are a few exceptions, and Airport 2000 is one of them. Recognised as being one of the most accurate simulators available, the developers would like to keep it that way, and so new versions of the sim have been created. Version 3 is the most enhanced and up-to-date version currently available. Featuring numerous world-famous airports, this game gives the player a truly informative playing experience.

Visually, Airport 2000 is quite remarkable, and features highly detailed representations of real life busy airports, including London Gatwick and San Francisco International. The airport models come complete with satellite terminals, radar towers, hangars, and even office buildings. Three new aircraft have been included in this third version, including the Boeing B737-800, as well as new cockpit sound effects and a series of new missions. When participating in one of the game’s many available missions, you will find yourself using a vast number of keyboard controls, regardless of whether or not you have a controller. A read through the manual comes highly recommended. There are enhanced panel controls, a Flight Management Computer and 3D pilots, to name but a few of the game’s features. Most of the new missions include managing a successful flight from one airport to the other. Accomplishing such tasks is a formidable challenge in anybody’s book.

Airport 2000 V3 is one of the most extensive games of its kind around. It’s very informative, and educational in many ways. Well worth it for slight simulator aficionados.
