Summary

Nearly every self-respecting skateboarder on the planet either has or knows about Tech Decks. For all of you non-cool people, Tech Decks are tiny skateboards that you ride with your fingers. They’re cool for a number of reasons, firstly they use real graphics from professional boards, they can be used indoors and they are ideal for when it’s raining. Most importantly you can actually do tricks on a Tech Deck in an scarily similar fashion to real skating: kickflips, ollies and 360 flips, oh yes. The world of small consoles has finally met the world of tiny skateboards in Tech Deck Skateboarding for the Nintendo Game Boy Color.

In Tech Deck you assume the role of Finger Guy, a tiny finger that skates your deck around various skateparks. The object of the game is to collect all of the 50 Tech Decks scattered throughout the game and have fun while you’re doing it. On each level you have to find a pre-determined number of deck icons and if you find them all within the time limit you are rewarded with a Tech Deck. Ah, the time limit. No-one said this was going to be easy. As you get further into the game the time limit gradually decreases and naturally that makes the levels harder to complete. This is where your tricks come into play, if you pull off three tricks in a row you receive a time bonus. This means that you have to skate with style if you’re going to get the job done.

There are a wide variety of tricks on offer such as shove its, big spins, smith grinds and front flips. There are many places in the levels where you can pull these tricks off and you can even string them together into combinations. Tech Deck Skateboarding is another quality Game Boy skateboarding game that you’re bound to enjoy.
