Summary
The FPS (first-person shooter) genre has been twisted in many ways in recent years, to put a slant on gameplay. The genre has evolved into two very distinct sub-genres: the all-out frag-fest, and the slow-paced, strategy-heavy game. Falling into the latter category, Spec Ops: Omega Squad is the next American-based stealth game to hit the shelves for Dreamcast.
In this particular adventure, you will assume the role of a United States Army Ranger, and you’re good, very good. Along with your hard-as-nails colleagues, you will take on a host of missions in a challenge to eradicate terrorism and life-threatening situations. You will be armed with some of the most advanced weapons to date, but you must use them wisely. Firing at random will get you noticed, and most likely killed.
The game has been developed on a respectable 3D engine, and showcases some very clean, highly detailed, fast-running graphics. Ultimately, your challenge within the game is to become America’s best. But you must prove your worth by completing the game’s many missions. If you succeed, you can rest-assured with the knowledge that you are a truly amazing ranger with some excellent game-playing skills.
