Summary

Rev your engines race fans, and prepare to hit the water in Aqua GT on the Sega Dreamcast. Following in the footsteps of the excellent Hydro Thunder, Take 2's powerboat simulation is a fast-paced adventure through some of the most beautiful cities in the world. Aqua GT looks the part as high-resolution graphics and detailed environments make the game look sweet.

Aqua GT is a smooth and highly playable racing experience. It successfully captures the adrenaline rush of real racing; this game has a great feel to it. When you first start playing, you might find yourself hitting the wall because you are looking at the backgrounds rather than the track. The only slightly disappointing feature is the lack of analogue control for your speed. Your triggers are used for changing gears, a digital operation, and the buttons are used for acceleration. Strange.

In Aqua GT you can choose to compete in a championship or opt for a straight arcade race. Like most racing games your initial craft and course selection is limited, but is gradually unlocked as you win races. The later cars have more speed and better handling characteristics.

The two-player mode of Aqua GT stands out. There is little graphical degradation in this mode and the races can be ridiculously close. Overall, there is solid gameplay to found in this title and plenty of challenges to keep you playing.
