Summary

Wetrix sounds a bit like Tetris. Well a bit. AquaAqua is Wetrix 2 and it sees its debut on PlayStation 2. For the uninitiated, Wetrix is a game that involves arranging and managing water as it falls to earth. AquaAqua comes branded as a “Cellular Puzzle Game” which, as far as we can discern, means you have to manage the flow of water into various cells on the ground.

AquaAqua takes the better elements of Wetrix, as seen on the Nintendo 64, and upgrades them both graphically and in the control method. Flipping and rotating the water has been made much easier, as has raising and lowering the ground.

The excellent multiplayer features of the original release are all present and correct. Two player mode has been brought up to date in its genre, with a Bust a Move combo system in operation, meaning that this game borrows from the two best elements of puzzle gaming. Descending objects and malicious competition. If you cannot get enough of puzzle gaming, AquaAqua is the game for you!
