The first title in the Turok series was originally released back in 1997 on Nintendo 64. While this title didnt sell as much as it should have done, it was recognised for its lovely visuals and fantastic game play. After a series of sequels, Acclaim finally decided to let the hand held audience experience a game of such calibre. That game is Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion, new for GameBoy Color.
Needless to say, the graphics of the two conversions will not be comparable in any way. Game play is also entirely different due to the backward step in dimensions from 3D to 2D, although certain features have been left intact. Weapons such as the plasma rifle and missile launcher make another appearance. The environments and scenarios are as varied as ever, including swamps, jungles and enemy bases, all of which must be survived in order to succeed in your mission to save Earth.
While the differences between Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion and its predecessors are remarkable, there are enough similarities for this title to remain faithful to the Turok series.
