Summary
Army Men: Operation Meltdown is the next instalment of plastic on plastic violence from 3DO. The basic premise remains unchanged; green toy soldiers that you control have to halt the evil tan soldiers’ deadly advance.
The game play runs as standard top-down real-time-strategy with all the usual vehicles and weapons that you would expect. The missions set are split into two scenarios – offensive and defensive with troops expected to gain ground or hold position accordingly.
As with Sarge’ Heroes and Air Attack the pace and feel of the game is the pleasing mixture of strategy and action which has seen the Army men series become a world-wide best seller. The environments are varied and as you progress through the levels, you will see your troops progress from the beach, through the suburbs and into the city for some urban combat.
