Summary

For as long as anyone can remember, mankind has been striving to become the dominant life-form of the universe. Now, far into the 25th century, he has finally succeeded. He rules confidently and wisely, making plans for the future and customising the stars for life to exist far from Earth. But mankind is not alone in being the only life-form eager to create and expand into new colonies, and as he reaches the height of prosperity, hostile space tribes from all over the universe are planning attacks to defeat him and control his territories.

Your role as a pilot for the United Galaxy Space Force is to lead a strategic mobile unit into battle. You must prepare this team for the task ahead and teach them how to control these highly manoeuvrable fighter craft.

Star Ixiom is an absorbing mix of strategy and space-based blaster, with some colourfully impressive set-pieces, and a huge selection of spaceships that will have your head spinning and your buttocks squirming in record time. The choice of craft on offer, and the optional weaponry available doesn’t quite mean that Star Ixiom is the Gran Turismo 2 of outer space, but there is plenty here to suggest that it is certainly a little more than your average intergalactic shoot ‘em up. Combining the elements of strategy management and gung-ho attack in equal measure is essential if you are to succeed in your missions. Be sure to take a look around the command base, and talk to the staff there, in order to get the full picture of what is about to unfold in front of you once you get out there, into the endless indigo pit which is deep space.

Prepare yourself and manage your team for the first space war in history, and defend man’s territories to the bitter end.
