Summary

The release of Starship troopers on the big screen was at the very least a popular outing for fans of the sci-fi genre. While a video game was not produced based on the film, Dogs of War on PC does bear some strange similarities to the film equivalent. The story is quite complicated, but intriguing, with three unique opposing forces, and a carnivorous alien race. Primus is a danger for anyone who steps foot on this valuable planet.

Beginning with some fantastic FMV, including some nice “Matrix” style bullet time, the Dogs of War introduction does have a positive effect on your desire to play this game. Real time strategy games have always been a little complicated, but thankfully a tutorial has been inserted into the game code, making that oh so steep learning curve a little shallower for those of you who are a little inexperienced in the genre. There are twenty huge landscaped levels to go to war in, with some visually impressive, high resolution graphics, blended with motion capture, dynamic lighting effects and influential weather conditions.

Dogs of War is a game of pure strategy. If you’re not up to it, you will probably be eaten alive. Welcome – to the unreal world.
