Summary

Question. Can you combine first-person games with role-playing games? Of course you can, but it has rarely been done, perhaps because the two genres don’t go well together. Developers with enough knowledge and experience will know that you can do anything with a video game, and Wizards and Warriors is a good example.

As an RPG, the first-person point of view is the last you would expect, although it works quite well. Notorious for their size, role-playing games take weeks, if not months of solid play before the game is near finished. Wizards and Warriors promises as many as 200 hours of intense gameplay, should you be motivated enough to get stuck into it. All the standard role-playing elements are there, including magic, spells and statistics. There are huge global environments to explore, with over 40 areas of play.

More interestingly, battle is played in real time, forcing you to think quickly, despite the ‘more haste means less speed’ rule proving true. You can create and take control of up to six characters simultaneously, with a possible 900 character formations. Choose carefully.

Although Wizards and Warriors does have the rare first-person attribute attached to its name, it is still a point and click game at heart, but that never did a PC owner any harm, now, did it?
