Summary

Beetle Crazy Cup is exactly what this racing title is about! As the name on the box suggests, in this game you have the chance to hop into a variety of love bugs and race to your hearts content. It’s time to take part in some of the most bizarre events around, you even get the chance to drive a nitro injected classic Beetle into the sky as part of a daredevil distance jump.

Even though you have to compete in and win races to open up the tracks, there are a staggering 52 circuits available for you race on. Beetle Crazy Cup is divided into five main categories; Speed, Cross, Monster, Buggy and Jump. Speed is where you take to the open road in your souped up Beetle for some pure racing action. Cross is where you get behind the wheel of a stock car and race on dirt tracks with massive jumps. The Monster mode is great fun, you drive a VW truck with 800BHP and eight foot tall tires. Buggy is buggy racing on the beach and Jump is the distance event.

You need to develop a unique style of driving for each event and that will test your driving skills to the limit. The Monster truck run is timed against the clock and you can’t hit any obstacles or you will incur a time penalty. You need to be very precise with a ridiculously powered engine to win in this mode. The jump on the other hand is tricky in a timing sense, you need to gauge the optimum point of nitro injection and the correct angle of your car.

Beetle Crazy Cup has recently been released as part of Infogrames Best Of budget series. At such a cheap price it would be silly to pass up a diverse and enjoyable game.
