Anybody who owns a Nintendo 64 will not have had the chance to play this game. Exclusively a PlayStation title up until now, Ridge Racer finally gets it's conversion on to 64-bit format.
Graphics have the standard improvements you would expect, such as textures and level of detail. There are the standard features presented with RR64, such as car colour, race class, and transmission.
However, probably the most attractive features of RR64 are the tracks. This game features the original tracks from both Ridge Racer and Ridge Racer Revolution on the PlayStation, and includes a brand new track of its own. Namco's racing series has always been reputable for the standard of its racing tracks, and RR64 is no exception. The new "Renegade" track has the same balance of hair pin corners, straights and jumps as any of the other titles.
The games structure has also been retained. Progression can be made through winning each of the tracks on a certain difficulty level. Once complete, you are given access to the next difficulty level and so on, unlocking to access to track extensions and new cars.
As with the other titles in the series, there is the all-beating devil car to defeat. However, this should only be considered for experts of the game.
RR64 is essentially three games in one, making it worthwhile for anybody who hasn't had the chance to embark on this arcade series.
