Summary

If you have seen the Phantom Menace movie and want to live the excitement yourself, then this title will allow you to do just that. It’s time to save the Rebel Alliance from the evil Trade Federation.

In this game, you assume the roles of Obi-wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Queen Amidala, and Captain Panaka. The game follows the plot of the film in nearly every scene, the only exceptions being the omission of the space battles and the pod racing sequences. The action is viewed from an overhead, over-the-shoulder perspective, which changes depending on which way you are looking.

The gameplay is balanced between adventure sections that are packed with action and puzzle sections. The Phantom Menace is like a 3D free roaming beat-em-up with lightsabres and blasters. If you are quick enough you can reflect laser shots with your lightsaber, very useful for when you are jumped by several druids at once.

The graphics in this game are beautifully rendered with detailed backgrounds and smoothly animated characters. This makes it even easier to become lost in the Star Wars universe. The sound is of a similar standard, after all, a deal of Star Wars’ coolness comes from the sound effects.

The Phantom Menace on the PC lets you become a Jedi. What more do you want?
