Summary

Get fit and have fun at the same time with Dance Dance Revolution on the PlayStation. This is a rhythm-based timing game. The aim of the game is very simple: arrows representing four different directions scroll up the screen. When they reach the top you must press the corresponding direction on the controller or dance mat.

This game really should be played with the mat, available separately, or maybe you can find thegame and the mat bundled together. Bargain! Anyway, we digress. Using the mat is ten times the fun of using a standard PlayStation gamepad. You must stand on the appropriate section of the mat at the right time. On the harder levels you are often required to enter two different directions at the same time, if using a pad, so you see, it's easier to play with the optional dance mat. It’s like having a dancing competition in your own house.

Dance Dance Revolution is a great way to get into shape and have a good time simultaneously. DDR even includes a feature that counts the calories as you dance. You simply enter in your weight and it calculates the energy burn based on the difficulty of the game and the tempo of the song that is playing.

Dance Dance Revolution has a selection of 24 different musical tracks for you to dance to. A few of these tracks are hits like Shaft’s Mucho Mambo and Boyzone’s So Good. The music is varied and there are bound to be a few tracks that you will like. Most of the time you concentrate so hard on the game and the rhythm involved that you forget to listen to the music.

Dance Dance Revolution is an original title that is enjoyable and worthwhile to play. If you want to get in shape, you really need the dancing mat accessory because moving your fingers and thumbs won’t work up much of a sweat.
