Yeah, the lack of PS2 compatibilty has pissed me off more than the PS3 previous high price now. Now they are saying they are phasing out 60gb. This whole thing was never about hard drive space, just price.
Now the price is solved to a reasonable level its at the costly high price of no PS2 games on it, even when EU/U.K PS3s use emulation software to do it. This is not acceptable, and I won't be buying unless I get the full deal. I wonder where this leaves the 80gb model and what price will that be at?
Good god, MS and Nintendo must be laughing so hard at Sony right now. Such a simple thing like BC and they can't even get that right. Like it costs a lot to do when it doesn't.
This has now just a bout killed PS2s time in the U.K. Guess I better start importing Persona 3, Soul Nomad etc, cause Sony have lost the plot.
somehow I gotta thinnk the results here are skewed...
OK, but which way do you think they are skewed, and skewed how?
I think you may be overlooking the massive installed user-base, very many of whom were waiting for a price cut. Hell, I know people who bought PS3 as soon as it came out based on their brand loyalty, so it doesn't surprise me that a whole lot of people were just waiting for a price cut.
I don't own one (sure, I can use the office one! but I don't have one at home.) but I'm going to buy one this morning.
NOT because I think the price cut is a brilliant move - it is a necessary one - but because the removal of backwards compatibility is an insane move, and I want to get a PS3 before the backwards compatibility is gone.
If they weren't removing backward compatibility, I'd wait until there were some more good games available - but given that that could be a while... I'm gonna be playing FFXII and God of War II on mine.
