I'd write something, but it'd be a hideous wrist-slashing goth piece about the improbably long (five years so far!) death of the Dreamcast. So I won't.
Instead, I shall refer you all to the best/worst piece of music ever written about gaming - The Sega Mastermix '90, courtesy of Mean Machines contest winners "MCs Nick & Steve". Worth hearing for the following line alone: Donatello, Raphaelo, grey imports, pizzas - dis 'em boy!
Now they've gotten me started on the whole "daddy or chips" thing, except with pizzas and Sega. =(
I need to learn to do this with out any moderatly offensive slurs :/ (carlos mencia said i could say beaner!!)
I hear what you are saying there, but you are doing okay. My inspiration comes from hip hop when it wasn't about the swearing and bling. Therefore there's no swearing because its partly poetry, part wordplay. Keep trying and do your thing.
This ones a trbute to my youth of school early mornings and lunchtimes, spent playing games at a friends house. Totally original and true, just for you.
Lunch In, Schools Out
Games games games Bring me plenty of joy Even now that I'm a man Back from when I was a boy
In my early years Early in the morning I get up ready for school Still tired, still yawning
Even though its early I have time for a pitstop Pick up my friend first Before heading to the paper shop
To buy Mean Machines and Super Play Hey these were real games mags Way back in the day Mega, N-Force, Sega Pro No time to look though Damn school, Time to leave Time to go
All the way to school Talk of games dominated conversation At school, we were there more for friends But not for the education
Time for lunch The bell rings real loud I grab my bag Time to leave I push my way through the crowd
I walk to meet my comrades Yes my friends. they await me We chat, laugh, smile About SF2 technique, they taunt and bate me
Because lunch hour Isn't just about food eating It's free game time too Its about game beating Using the time given To have some fun And get back to school No fuss, no trouble Once we're all done
Back at my mates place we arrive In the living room it silently sits The Sega Mega Drive Quick...plug it in, switch it on Yeah man, now I feel alive Colours vivid and bright Sounds in my ears to my delight I feel as high as a kite
Mega Bomberman on multiplayer was a blast Sonic spins, jumps and runs fast Ranger X, Truxton, Rocket Knight Mortal Kombat game play was good Sound and graphics were s**te though Streets of Rage 1 and 2..yeah bravo, Very cool tunes by Yuzo Koshiro Streets of Rage 3, now that was terrible Landstalker, Shinobi 3, Shining Force 1 and 2 All incredible
As the pad is passed on I know its far from game over There's another game yet Perhaps I'll rediscover my form My personal skill, my magic touch That make my fingers dance Giving me blisters and such
Lunch is done, time to head back But we'll do this again Are you up for it, friend? When school is out Give me a phone call A door knock or shout
Okay time to go now Pause Time Out
Test Your Might! Round, 1 2 3, Fight! Win, lose or draw We'll still be friends, alright?
