Summary

Following the big screen legend through five gruelling films and dozens of lethal opponents, super boxer Rocky Balboa has returned to tell his life story in a stunning new beat-em-up from Rage on PlayStation 2.

Playing as Rocky himself, you'll have to take care of 22 memorable opponents from the previous Rocky films including the formidable Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago. Beginning with a steady learning curve and forgiving opponents, you'll master the basic attack, block and defence moves before learning some of the game's devastating OTT super punches.

Still not ready for a career in boxing? Then get yourself down to the training room for a little fist-on-face action. What's interesting, and what makes PS2 Rocky stand out above most other boxing or wrestling games, is the admirable attention to detail. Using a new facial damage engine, you'll be able to see the pain and damage caused by your own blows. It's very satisfying, and also realistic, but mostly just satisfying.

As you progress through a daunting career mode, you'll visit several familiar scenes and boxing rings before taking on further opponents as you strive to reach world champion status for the last time.

Other game modes include Exhibition and a 16-1 Knockout Tournament. You can fight your friends in a multi-player contest or practice on each other to gain valuable play time and practice for the main game. Whatever your preference, Rocky can accommodate.

Rocky is an accomplished game that will no doubt help Rage get their foot right in the door marked 'Video Game Stardom' and start competing with the big boys. Good job.
