Summary

The Panzer General series is one of the most intensely strategic games series available for PC. The third instalment of Panzer General is no exception. The game’s strategy-heavy gameplay may not be to everyone’s liking, but if you're an old-time, nay, old-skool campaigner, step this way.

Scorched Earth is set in the time of World War 2. The serious environments for the game also apply to the game’s playing style. There are many campaigns to undertake, each one with its own set of unique victory conditions, making the gameplay mostly a matter of skill and strategy over other qualities. Other variables include dynamic weather conditions. Fog, rain and snow will show without warning, forcing you to quickly alter your plans. There is a whole bestiary of vehicles, planes, weaponry, and ranked officers, many of which are new for the third game in the series.

If deep strategy is your thing, then there isn’t a better-suited game to play. By the same token, if you have a hankering for history, again, this is as thorough a lesson as you’ll get outside of a reference title. Like we said in the opening paragraph, intense!
