Summary

If ever a game was under a lot of pressure to perform, Titanfall 2 is it. Coming from a studio headed up by one of Call of Duty's co-creators, anointed with 80 awards from trade shows before it even came out and going up against other first-person shooters such as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1, it's safe to say that Titanfall 2 comes out against a backdrop of high expectations.

As with the first game in the series, gameplay switches from fast-paced parkour shoot-outs in which the player can jump two stories and run along walls to high-powered mech-based action.

The biggest upping of the ante for this sequel - aside from the fact that it's multi-platform for the first time - is the inclusion of a single-player mode that can be played offline. This campaign explores the bond between man and machine as the player is dropped onto the frontier in the boots of a militia rifleman with aspirations of becoming an elite pilot. Stranded behind enemy lines, you must team up with a veteran Titan to complete a mission that was never meant to be yours.

The multiplayer game has also been pumped up, with six brand new titans, new pilot abilities, expanded customisation options, new modes and more.

War just got even bigger.
