Summary

It's London, 1918, and England is not a nice place to be. The fog that cloaks the city's dark warren of streets brings with it the plague of Spanish Flu, but it also covers an even darker threat - vampires are abroad.

You wake, confused, as Jonathan Reid. Something is wrong, but it's nothing so mundane as a virulent disease - you're afflicted with something altogether more terrible: vampirism. As you learn what this means you'll discover that undeath has granted you supernatural powers and abilities, but the cost is high. To use them, you must drink blood, and the price that your soul must pay is murder.

In life, however, Jonathan Reid was a doctor. Herein lies the central tension of Vampyr. To untangle the horror around you you must kill, but how does someone who has pledged himself to healing reconcile himself to that? You will have to investigate the tangled lives of the people around you, interacting with the residents of a reeling London to decide who to kill. Finding out more can lead to sweeter results, but it can also lead to you uncovering something about a potential victim that you'd rather not know. Each kill vibrates through the web, and your decisions can't be taken back.

Beyond the tense psychological narrative there's plenty of action to *ahem* sink your teeth into, as well. Vampire hunters stalk the murky streets of London and verminous skal, low vampires who feed on rats, haunt the city. So choose your victims carefully...
