Summary

Most sequels tend to have a pretty standard numbering format. Final Fantasy always seems to manage to buckle that trend, particularly when it comes to spinoffs. After pleasing the world of hardcore JRPG fans with the world-colliding fighting game Dissidia, Square Enix has returned to the battleground with Dissidia 012[duodecim].

The name is there for a reason - it refers to the ‘12th battle’ which culminates in a war between two forces, Cosmos and Chaos. Just like the last game, heroes and villains from almost every canon Final Fantasy adventure take appropriate sides and work together to ensure their destiny is fulfilled.

Large halls, precarious cliffsides and other familiar landscapes are the battlegrounds in which you face mighty opponents in a third-person behind-the-shoulder viewpoint. The ability to smack the stuffing out of your enemy, before leaping to higher ground for a more strategic opportunity has been carried over from the original Dissidia, and along with the fighting comes the usual RPG-style levelling up that the franchise is best known for.

In 012[duodecim] you can expect to find some new game modes, story missions, items and alternate costumes that really help explore the level of depth and action within.
