Summary

Capcom's massively popular action role-playing game series, Monster Hunter, gets its third incarnation on the PSP in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. The game is an expansion to the previous game Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Unite features more of the same quest-based collecting and monster-slaying as the previous games with the occasional monster capture mission thrown in, too. But this time there are more missions and equipment, and more new monsters to be slain.

Players of the previous game will be able to bring the characters they have created in MHF2 into the new game, and retain all of their achievements. Existing characters can be edited with the new game's character editor.

Everything in Monter Hunter Freedom Unite is turned up a notch, you can get rarity 10 armour and weapons. You can hold up to 99 of each item, and store up to 20 equipment sets. You now have access to eight equipment pages rather than the six of the previous game.

Capcom claims the game to be one of the biggest and longest PSP titles to date. In fact, it technically never ends - you can just keep on slaying monsters until you get tired of it - not that Monster Hunter fans ever seem to get tired of the game.

The title has been massively successful in Japan, where these types of games traditionally set gamers abuzz, outselling every other title in 2008. Now European gamers will get their chance to see what all the fuss was about.

Another new feature of MHFU is the ability to install part of the game onto a memory stick – a feature which speeds load times and reduces access to the UMD.
