Summary
Thousands of years ago, mysterious artifacts known as Remnants were discovered all over the world. Bestowing incredible power on those lucky enough to possess them, they soon became the cause of great conflict. Those who coveted the Remnants were fought with over and over, and the world's delicate balance fractured. The people were divided into those who ruled and those who were ruled over. A thousand years later is where the player comes in.
The character you play is named Rush. He lives with his sister Irina on the isolated island of Eulam, a true haven, far removed from the mainland and its troubles. However, one typically beautiful day on Eulam, his idyll is invaded by a mysterious group of soldiers which abduct his sister. He immediately sets off after them, ill-prepared for the evils of the outside world but determined to find his sister at any cost.
The Last Remnant is an original adventure title from the makers of Final Fantasy, and truly benefits from Square Enix's finest efforts to create a deep and involving real-time fantasy world that looks the cat's whiskers. In true innovative Square Enix style, the game's battle sections are a brand new experience for players, as they control forces in huge cinematic combat scenarios. With the Unreal Engine giving its combat scenes added 'oomph', and a Selective Encounter System eliminating the Random Battle element, and enabling you to fight your battles your way, The Last Remnant is another winning RPG battler from the king of role-players, Square Enix.
