Summary

In the words of the great Jimmy Greaves, 'It's a funny old game'. Football, that is. But if he was to be overheard making such a statement these days, he could quite easily be mistaken for talking about the latest instalment of Sports Interactive's Championship Manager game. Why? You see, the game is exclusive to Xbox, so PC owners are going to miss out this time, unless they have an Xbox, of course (or plan to buy one, even).

Championship Manager Season 02/03 picks up where its predecessor left off, providing players with all the latest features and updated information for the new football season. New additions include the latest player and team data for over 100,000 players and staff, additional leagues and an all-new FIFA transfer window, to name but a few.

27 worldwide leagues feature in total, giving players the chance to manage any one of a hefty amount of teams. This time around, players have increased managerial powers and interaction, which allow players to perform such tasks as make notes on players in the game, approach governing bodies to appeal against bans, issue the board with the odd ultimatum, and send players away for surgery.

A novel new feature includes the option to have new and unknown players' stats hidden, with only players that a manager would realistically know about being shown. This makes for a more realistic approach when it comes to transfers, as you are required to scout players in order to uncover their full stats.

With all the latest competitions, awards and major tournaments, as well as the inclusion of U21 teams, player personalities and in-depth media involvement, this is as comprehensive a footy management sim as they come.

Better get saving up for that Xbox, then!
