UK Wii U Release Date Announcement This Week
Wii U is coming! Wii U is coming! Just in time for Xmas (aka the The Holidays). Well, that's the expectation given leaks that would make a pre-E3 Sony proud.

3pm UK time on Thursday September 13th is apparently the time and date for Nintendo to announce its hardware follow-up to the Wii.

Update: Nintendo has sent out a press release in the light of leakages that reads:

"Nintendo today announced the next European edition of Nintendo Direct. The Nintendo Direct Wii U Preview will be streamed from the Nintendo Direct website on 13th September from 3pm (UK time) and sees Nintendo of Europe President Satoru Shibata take a closer look at the upcoming Wii U console.

"The Wii U console launches this holiday season and introduces the Wii U GamePad, a controller with a 6.2-inch touch screen that redefines how people interact with their games, their entertainment and one another."

This has got quite a few people with marketing in their blood and air in their hot lungs to cry "Doom! Gloom!" because Apple is going to reveal its iPhone 5 this week to; the day before in fact. The two events being so close together obviously means death and disaster for poor old Nintendo because of the whole phone/game console clash... thing... that's erm, so well known.

Anyway, the European announcement hosted by Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata will run at the same time as the US event hosted by NOA president Reggie Fils Aimee from New York on Thursday.

NintendoLife reports that, "It has been confirmed that Nintendo Europe will host a Nintendo Direct conference at 4PM (Spanish time, that's about 3PM if you're in the UK) on the same day - effectively at the same time that the NYC event is happening. Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata will be hosting the presentation."

When they "confirmed" they mean, "reported in Gamereactor in Spain in a report that has been pulled since".
